ONE – MONDAY 13th APRIL 1914 – Celtic very quickly get over their disappointment of only drawing Saturday’s Scottish Cup final by turning on a dazzling performance against Queen’s Park whom they beat 5-0 with two goals from Jimmy McColl and one each from Patsy Gallacher, Jimmy McMenemy and Andy McAtee. 14,000 are there, all leaving Parkhead convinced that they will defeat Hibs in their next two games to land both the Scottish Cup and the Scottish League.

TWO – FRIDAY 13th APRIL 1956 – It is not often than Celtic play on a Friday night, but tomorrow sees the Scotland v England international at Hampden, and Celtic agree to play Kilmarnock at Rugby Park to avoid a clash. It is a fixture that doesn’t really have very much going for it, and it ends up a 0-0 draw, although it is a novelty to play under floodlights.

THREE – SATURDAY 13th APRIL 1963 – Without playing particularly brilliantly, Celtic reach the final of the Scottish Cup by beating Raith Rovers 5-2 at Ibrox on a windy day which rendered good football rather difficult. Dunky MacKay scores two penalties, and the other goals were scored by Steve Chalmers, John Divers and Frank Brogan.

FOUR – SATURDAY 13th APRIL 1968 – Celtic beat Dundee 5-2 at Celtic Park today to maintain their one point lead at the top of the League over Rangers. The problem is that Rangers who had a rather lucky 3-2 win over Raith Rovers at Stark’s Park have a game in hand, although Celtic have a better goal average. Bobby Lennox and John Hughes each scored twice today and the other goal was an own goal.

FIVE – SUNDAY 13th APRIL 2008 – It is the start of what seems like “mission impossible”. Following a disastrous defeat to Motherwell at Parkhead last Saturday, Celtic have seven games left (two of them against Rangers). They have to win them all, and hope that Rangers drop another four points. It does not seem likely, but today they start off on the right foot by beating Motherwell 4-1 at Fir Park with two goals from Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink, and one each from Steve McManus and Scott McDonald.
