The southern clash between FC Bayern and VfB Stuttgart was overshadowed by massive riots. More than two hours before kick-off, there were violent fan riots around the Allianz Arena, which called in a large police contingent
According to consistent reports, over 150 masked Stuttgart supporters stormed from Fröttmaning subway station towards the stadium and deliberately attacked the meeting point of the Bayern ultras at the Südkurvenplatz. The Munich fans reacted promptly – several hundred supporters confronted the attackers. The situation escalated within a very short time
The police arrived with numerous officers and intervened with batons and pepper spray to bring the situation under control. Several hundred officers were deployed
A larger group of those involved were surrounded. A total of around 150 Stuttgart supporters were arrested and taken to Munich police headquarters, as reported by BILD

According to initial reports, emergency services were also injured during the riots, with two police officers suffering lacerations
Police spokesman Thomas Schelshorn confirmed the incident and explained: „According to current information, there was a physical altercation between Ultras from VfB Stuttgart and FC Bayern Munich. The police were able to freeze the situation. There are currently over 100 people in police custody.“
What happens next will now be clarified in consultation with the public prosecutor’s office
The consequences were also felt in the stadium. The ultra group „Commando Cannstatt“ announced at the start of the match that there would be no organized support due to the police measures. Accordingly, it remained unusually quiet in the visitors‘ block
While FC Bayern secured their 35th German championship on the pitch with victory against Stuttgart, the incidents outside the arena left a bitter aftertaste
The events are likely to have repercussions – both for the fans involved and for the security debate surrounding top matches in the Bundesliga.
