Frustration is beginning to set in for West Brom supporters due to an inconsistent run of form under Ryan Mason.

After claiming an impressive three points in a front-footed display against Preston North End, the Baggies have since slumped to defeats on the road at Watford and Ipswich Town, missing the chance to cement themselves in the promotion conversation.

Instead, three away defeats on the spin now leaves the club in 11th place, although they are sitting just two points outside the top six, but now eight points away from the automatic promotion places.

A poor run of form has seen the Baggies collect just two wins from their last eight Championship appearances, with the ex-Tottenham Hotspur coach Mason finding it difficult to balance the rising number of injuries to his squad with consistently positive displays and results.

Despite the underwhelming backdrop, Albion’s standout player this season has been playmaker Isaac Price, who is beginning to show his worth in the blue and white stripes and finding the back of the net on a regular basis to help out his team.

The Northern Ireland international has five goals already this campaign, netting back-to-back stunners against Preston and Watford after failing to score in his previous seven outings.

While there were some critics around his performances of late, he’s hit back to show how influential he can be in the final third, but others do have to step up when he is below-par in some games.

Regardless, Price has been a sensational piece of business under Shilen Patel, with the Black Country outfit originally paying £2.5m at the turn of last year to secure his services.

The Baggies are set to make a huge profit when he eventually leaves the club, and it could be a distinct possibility next summer should Albion not make it back to the Premier League this season.

With this in mind, FLW’s West Brom fan pundit has outlined what Albion should be demanding to consider parting ways with their star man.

Speaking to Football League World, West Brom fan pundit Callum Burgess believes that Albion should be considering a minimum of £15m for Isaac Price, and has demanded the club to avoid selling their best players on the cheap in the future.

Callum said: “I think that his goalscoring form for both club and country and general ability with the ball certainly makes him one of the most talented midfielders in the league and, so far, there’s an argument to say that he’s been one of the best performers too.

“So, with that in mind, you’ve got to be looking at double digits in terms of how many millions of pounds you’d be looking at to get Albion even interested in selling Price.

“The first price I’d want to be looking at is the £15m region. I think that when you’re getting one of the talented players out of the Championship you’ve got to be paying a premium, and it’s something Albion have to improve on.”

While Isaac Price hasn’t always been on it in recent times for West Brom, you can’t ignore his goalscoring tally, and that’s the area that ultimately matters most in the game.

In an attacking role as the number 10, Price has been able to dictate in the final third and unleash some scintillating strikes on his right foot, but he’s also demonstrated that he can net all types of finishes when planting a headed effort in their away victory at Wrexham early on into the term.

His ability to drive at opposition defenders, sharp movement, and a clinical eye for goal have made him such a valued asset in the Albion forward line, and it raises the question of where the team would be without his regular contributions.

At 22, he’s still got so much room for improvement in his game too, and surely a Premier League team will fancy taking their chances on him if he can continue his run of form in front of goal for the remainder of the season.

Albion’s promotion push back to the top-flight is under threat due to their inconsistent form under Ryan Mason, and you feel if they don’t secure a place back in the big time at the end of this season, then Price will be moving onto to bigger and better things.

If that is the case, then the Baggies must hold out for at least £15m to £20m, as those funds could be so crucial to continue to overhaul the playing squad and build a young and hungry team that can eventually mount a bid for Premier League football themselves.

This business is crucial now as the club doesn’t have any other salable assets that can reach the price of the Northern Ireland international, so the hierarchy will have to negotiate the right deal to avoid infuriating supporters further after the unpopular departures of Tom Fellows and Torbjorn Heggem.
