Football League World takes a look at what has happened to all the players who have left Plymouth Argyle in 2026

Plymouth Argyle are set to oversee several changes in the summer transfer market, having failed to land a League One play-off spot.

Argyle enjoyed the services of prolific strikers Lorent Tolaj and Bim Pepple during the 2025/26 season, but it wasn't enough to help them land an all-important top-six finish.

Tom Cleverley will hope that he leads the Devon club to a play-off spot in his second season in charge at Home Park, and will need to oversee strong recruitment.

Meanwhile, Football League World has taken a look at what is happening with all 16 players who have left Plymouth in 2026 so far.

Bali Mumba

Bali Mumba left Argyle in favour of Huddersfield Town in the winter transfer window, and has made 21 appearances for the Terriers so far, notching two assists in the process.

Kornel Szucs

Like Mumba, Kornel Szucs left the Pilgrims on a permanent transfer in the winter, and has scored one goal in 12 appearances for Serbian club Vojvodina.

Wes Harding

Wes Harding made his Plymouth debut in February, having joined on loan from Championship outfit Millwall, and his Home Park tenure has now concluded.

The defender has been released by the Lions, which opens the door for Argyle to sign him permanently, after he impressed in his 14 League One appearances.

When discussing his future with Plymouth Live in April, Cleverley revealed he wants to see more of Harding.

???????Herbie Kane

Former Barnsley midfielder Herbie Kane joined the Home Park side on loan from Huddersfield in the winter, and made eight appearances for Cleverley's men before returning to West Yorkshire.

Kane remains under contract with the Terriers until the summer of 2027, meaning Argyle would have to pay a transfer fee to secure his permanent services.

???????Alex Mitchell

Alex Mitchell has been a reliable asset for Plymouth since joining them on loan from Charlton Athletic last summer, making 47 appearances across all competitions before his stint in the South West concluded.

Speaking about the possibility of moving to the Pilgrims permanently, the defender told Plymouth Live in late April: "You have got to be careful what you say because you have got to be respectful to Charlton. I have got one year left there, but everyone knows I love it here, and it's something I would be looking towards, 100 per cent."

???????Owen Dale

Owen Dale signed for Argyle on loan from Oxford United last summer, and went on to notch one goal and four assists in 32 appearances across all competitions.

According to Alan Nixon via Patreon, Plymouth have entered talks over signing Dale permanently, after he was released by his former parent club, Oxford.

???????Law McCabe

Law McCabe joined the Pilgrims on a season-long loan from Middlesbrough last summer, but his Home Park tenure was cut short in January.

He made 13 appearances for Argyle, but hasn't featured for Boro since returning to the Riverside Stadium mid-way through the 2025/26 season.

Jamie Paterson

Jamie Paterson is an EFL journeyman who has represented the likes of Bristol City, Swansea City, and Coventry City in the Championship.

However, the 34-year-old struggled for game time in League One for Plymouth this term, and is among the nine players that the Devon club have released.

Zak Baker

Zak Baker is an Argyle academy product who has never made a senior appearance, instead enduring loan stints with Tiverton Town and Plymouth Parkway.

Consequently, the 21-year-old goalkeeper, who was regularly named as an unused substitute in League One, has signed for fellow Devon club Torquay United, who play in the National League South after being released by the Home Park club.

Ayman Benarous

Following an injury-plagued Bristol City career, Ayman Benarous joined the Pilgrims last summer, but went on to make just five third-tier starts and has been released.

The 22-year-old is searching for a new club ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

Luca Ashby-Hammond

Former England youth international goalkeeper Luca Ashby-Hammond made 24 appearances across all competitions for Cleverley's side in 2025/26, and started both of their last two League One fixtures.

However, he has been released by Plymouth, and will want to join his next club as soon as possible.

Brendan Galloway was a long-serving Argyle player, having joined the Devon outfit on a free transfer back in the summer of 2021.

The former Everton man was released by Cleverley's side alongside the likes of Ashby-Hammond and Benarous.

???????Jack Matthews

Jack Matthews made his senior Plymouth debut during their 2023/24 FA Cup campaign, but has never featured for Argyle since then, instead playing for the likes of Tavistock, Taunton Town, and Bath City on loan.

He is now vying to find a new club ahead of next season.

Joe Hatch

Joe Hatch is another Argyle youngster who has been released by the Home Park outfit ahead of next season.

The teenage forward notched one assist in three League One appearances for Plymouth, all of which came as a substitute, before joining Torquay on loan.

Nathanael Ogbeta spent the season on loan with Barnsley, making 30 appearances for the Tykes across all competitions, including one in their FA Cup clash with Liverpool.

He has been released by Argyle, meaning that the Oakwell club could sign him on a free transfer if they wish.

???????Callum Wright

Like Ogbeta, Callum Wright has been released by Plymouth, having spent the season on loan at a League One rival.

Wright was a star performer for an otherwise struggling Wigan Athletic outfit, helping them avoid relegation to League Two by notching seven goals and six assists in the third tier.

Discussing his future with Wigan Today, the 26-year-old said: "I've absolutely loved my time here, I've loved the location, near where I'm from (Liverpool), and Wigan will be at the forefront of my mind when I do decide my future."
