The Hammers are braced for a mass exodus of high-profile names this summer

After their relegation from the Premier League, West Ham United are braced for a summer of intense transfer activity as Nuno Espírito Santo looks to mount a successful Championship promotion bid at the first time of asking.

The stature of the Hammers as a club, and their facilities - including the 62,000-seater London Stadium - in comparison to all upcoming second tier rivals has been well-documented, but so has the strength of the squad at the Portuguese's disposal despite their recent disappointment.

However, it has already proven to be a summer of change in E20, not least due to the departures of David Sullivan and Karren Brady from the boardroom, after the two were the subject of major criticism from supporters in recent times, with Czech billionaire, Daniel Křetínský, vying to become the Irons' majority stakeholder as a result.

Such developments also came after a period of speculation regarding the future of Nuno himself heading into a first full season in East London after his appointment last summer in place of Graham Potter.

However, it has since been confirmed that the experienced boss, who won the Championship title with fellow newly-relegated outfit, Wolverhampton Wanderers, will be staying on as head coach, although the makeup of his squad remains to be seen.

As is often par for the course following relegation from the Premier League, the Hammers have already seen several high-profile names and big earners linked with departures - most notably Mateus Fernandes - who has been the subject of interest from Arsenal, Manchester United and PSG - and club captain, Jarrod Bowen.

That said, the duo certainly aren't alone, as the Irons look to count the cost of their first fall into the EFL in 14 years.

Juventus, Galatasaray and Eintracht Frankfurt revive transfer interest in West Ham midfielder Soungoutou Magassa

It has also been well-documented that the figure which West Ham are looking to reach in terms of income generated by player sales is north of £100m, but whether said target is hit remains to be seen.

The aforementioned Fernandes has been valued at £80m, although interested parties are looking to strike a cut-price deal in comparison to said figure, meaning there could be an even greater onus on other members of Nuno's squad to seek new pastures.

The Daily Mail recently claimed that as many as nine first-team players could depart, and one of the names on that list was French midfielder, Soungoutou Magassa, and a new claim has emerged over the future of the 22-year-old.

According to French outlet, Foot Mercato, Serie A giants, Juventus, alongside Turkish outfit, Galatasaray and Bundesliga club, Eintracht Frankfurt, are reviving their interest in the defensive midfielder, having looked at a potential transfer move in the previous summer window.

Magassa was only signed last August for £17.3m from AS Monaco, one month before Nuno's arrival, before the Portuguese called for 'patience' over his long-term development and immediate involvement in the squad.

That said, he was still able to appear in 26 outings across all competitions, with a solitary goal earning the Irons an unexpected draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford in December.

However, as the season drew to a close, Magassa only played 14 minutes' worth of action in the final eight matches, which is perhaps an indication of where his future lies.

West Ham already eyeing midfield reinforcements amid Magassa, Fernandes exit talk

Naturally, West Ham are already many people's early picks for the Championship title, even if they do lose a handful of current prized assets.

Given his potential and current age, Magassa's current market value is believed to be an attraction to those potential suitors, whilst Nuno has already been linked with a plethora of midfield targets.

They include Celtic ace, Arne Engels, Cardiff City's highly-rated playmaker, Rubin Colwill and Ethan Galbraith of Swansea City, with Football League World exclusively revealingWrexham.

Ultimately, Magassa could still go on to forge a successful career on the continent, but given his current situation, as well as the Hammers' need for funds, an exit does seem a very realistic outcome for all involved.
