In a tense, cauldron-like atmosphere, Maik Nawrocki’s 30th-minute header proved decisive, sealing derby honours for Hannover while piling pressure on the promotion contenders above them, all still to play this weekend.

As expected, the match burst into life from the first whistle. A raucous crowd set the tone, while robust challenges across the pitch underlined the intensity of the occasion. Hannover had chances to put the result beyond doubt, with Kolja Oudenne missing two promising opportunities, while Braunschweig came agonisingly close to snatching a point in the 101st minute. After good work from Aaron Opoku, Sidi Sané saw his effort flash narrowly wide, ultimately confirming Hannover’s victory.

It marks a significant win for Christian Titz’s side, ending a two-game winless run and lifting them, at least temporarily, into third place ahead of Elversberg. For Lars Kornetka, it is a first defeat as Braunschweig head coach, with his side remaining 13th as those below them - aside from Greuther Fürth - still have games to play.
