Manchester United fans will be delighted with their 5-2 win over Ipswich Town on Sunday afternoon.
Whilst Bruno Fernandes stole the show with a stunning hat-trick, United had another top performer, but this time away from Old Trafford.
Jacob Devaney impressed enough in the United academy to captain the under-21s, and he also had his first taste of senior football for St Mirren last season.
The Irish midfielder got the chance to play during United’s pre-season, and he scored for the side in their 5-0 win over Rosenborg in July.
Nonetheless, the club decided that his future would be better served on loan this season, and he joined Hibernian until the end of the campaign.
Devaney showed last season that he can mix it up in Scotland, and his new boss, David Gray, had no qualms about throwing him into the starting line-up.
The United man responded in perfect fashion, putting in a player of the match performance during Hibs’ 2-1 win over Dundee.
Devaney played 81 minutes and made two key passes in the centre of midfield.
He put in a passing masterclass, making 94% of his passes and completing 83% of his long ball attempts in an impressive display.
Devaney also showed a good engine, carrying the ball 12 times to alleviate pressure from his side.
The Irishman is also competitive in the middle of the park, winning three ground duels and a tackle in the match.
The United midfielder will make his home debut in a fascinating match-up as his new side host their fierce city rivals, Heart of Midlothian, on Thursday evening.
