2 Real Madrid, 2 Atlético: UEFA unveil Champions League Team of the Week | OneFootball

Leading players from two of Spanish football’s biggest clubs secured for themselves respective places in the latest UEFA Champions League Team of the Week.

The first two come from Atlético Madrid’s drubbing of Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday.

Diego Simeone’s troops of course made short work of Spurs two nights ago, putting five past the Premier League side to take a three-goal lead to north London for the tie’s 2nd leg.

Robin Le Normand enjoyed a fine outing at the heart of the Atlético defence, adding his name to the scoresheet during the first-half, whilst Julián Alvarez proved himself the star of the show, notching a brace as well as an assist.

And these exploits have proven enough to add the names of the two Rojiblancos stars to the official Champions League Team of the Week.

And these are far from the only Madrid-based players to have been included in UEFA’s XI.

Real Madrid also secured a three-goal win in their Last-16 opener, at the expense of Manchester City.

At one end, Thibaut Courtois was in stellar form, conjuring up several top-class saves. Federico Valverde, meanwhile, was the undisputed star of the show on Wednesday, en route to the first hat-trick of his professional career.
