Sheffield United are set for a busy January transfer window, with Alex Matos and Ehije Ukaki among those who could be on the move.

Sheffield United have already begun work on what is likely to be a very busy January window for Chris Wilder and the recruitment team.

The boyhood fan returned to Bramall Lane for a third time in September, as he inherited a Blades side sitting bottom of the league, even though they had come within one game of the Premier League under Wilder just a matter of months before.

Whilst there have been some low points since Wilder came back, it’s clear the team have made real progress under his guidance, with Sheffield United now clear of the relegation zone.

3 ? ? Chris Wilder will make major Sheffield United changes in January

That will not be seen as good enough for Wilder, and he has made no secret of the fact that he wants to freshen up the squad this month.

Work has already started on that front, with Ben Godfrey and Louie Barry returning to their parent clubs after unsuccessful loan spells with the Yorkshire outfit.

Plus, the Blades are seeking reinforcements, with the Sheffield Star stating they have made offers for at least two players who are currently with Premier League clubs.

So, there will be plenty of business taking place at Bramall Lane, and even though the focus for the fans may be on incomings, Wilder will know that departures are necessary to balance the squad.

With that in mind, we look at TWO players who could secure a quick exit from Sheffield United

2 ? ? Alex Matos

The former Chelsea youngster was brought to the club by Ruben Selles towards the end of the summer transfer window, and he did get a few opportunities at first.

However, Matos didn’t really take his chance, and he has gradually fallen out of favour under Wilder, to the extent that he has made just two substitute appearances since the start of November.

It has already been claimed that the Blades are open to offers for Matos, and, in truth, an exit would be ideal for all parties, as it’s hard to see how the 21-year-old is going to get near the XI with Ollie Arblaster now back to full fitness, whilst Sydie Peck will be back soon as well.

With Wilder in the market for a midfielder as well, Matos will know he needs an exit, and given his age and potential, you would expect there to be clubs in for him.

1 ? ? Ehije Ukaki

It was well-documented that Sheffield United took an unusual approach to transfers in the summer, as they went with an AI-based approach to identifying new signings.

Ukaki was one of those to arrive, with the winger having joined from Bulgarian outfit Botev Plovdiv, where he actually had a decent record. Yet, the transition to the Championship always seemed a big jump for the 21-year-old, and that has proven to be the case, as he has not featured in a league game.

Unsurprisingly, the Blades are ready to let him leave, and it’s clear that he is not going to be part of Wilder’s plans moving forward, so Ukaki needs to leave for the benefit of his career.
