MIAMI – The 2024/25 Concacaf W Champions Cup Finals, the final stage to the region’s premier women’s club championship, will determine the inaugural champion in the tournament’s history.

What

The 2024/25 Concacaf W Champions Cup Finals is the closing stage of the 2024/25 Concacaf W Champions Cup.

The tournament began last August with a Preliminary Round, followed by a Group Stage that culminated in October. The top two clubs from each group have advanced to the 2024/25 Concacaf W Champions Cup Finals to determine the champion of the inaugural edition.

The four advancing teams will congregate on a predetermined location this May to play the Semifinals, Third Place, and Final of the tournament – all of which will be single-elimination matches.

The four clubs participating in the 2024/25 Concacaf W Champions Cup Finals are:

·       Club América Femenil (Mexico)

·       NJ/NY Gotham FC (USA)

·       Portland Thorns FC (USA)

·       Tigres UANL Feminil (Mexico)

When

The dates for the 2024/25 Concacaf W Champions Cup Finals are as follows:

·       Semifinals: May 21

·       Third Place Match: May 24

·       Final: May 24

Where

The 2024/25 Concacaf W Champions Cup Finals will take place at Estadio Universitario in San Nicolás de los Garza, Nuevo León, Mexico.

The Estadio Universitario has been witnessed to many great moments in women’s football, including as host for the 2022 Concacaf W Championship. It is home of the six-time Liga MX Femenil champions Tigres Femenil, who will be one of the teams vying to become the first Concacaf W Champions Cup winners.

History

The inaugural Concacaf W Champions Cup kicked off in August 2024 with eleven teams. Alianza FC Women (SLV) and Vancouver Whitecaps FC Girls Elite Academy (CAN) met in the first match of the competition in the Preliminary Round.

The remaining ten teams competed in the Group Stage from August to October. Group A pitted LD Alajuelense (CRC), Frazsiers Whip (JAM), CF Monterrey (MEX), NJ/NY Gotham FC (USA) and Tigres UANL (MEX).

Whitecaps FC advanced to Group B to compete with the likes of Club América (MEX), Portland Thorns FC (USA), San Diego Wave FC (USA) and Tigres UANL Feminil (Mexico).

Tigres UANL and Club América finished as leaders of their respective groups. Gotham FC and Portland Thorns advanced as the second placed teams.

Club América and Gotham will meet in the first semifinal followed by Tigres Femenil against Portland Thorns, with the winners advancing to determine the inaugural champion on May 24.
