2026 World Cup qualifiers: Burkina Faso prepare for "all-out attack" against Ethiopia

Burkina Faso will host Ethiopia on October 12 at 19:00 GMT at the 4 August Stadium in Ouagadougou, in the tenth and final round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Ahead of this decisive Group A clash, both teams outlined their ambitions this evening during the press conference.

"We will give everything we have and score plenty of goals. We will play with an all-out attack," declared Burkina Faso coach Brama Traoré, emphasizing that this is the only opportunity to finish the qualifiers among the top four second-placed teams and open the doors to the playoff.

Issa Kaboré suspended

Responding to questions about the squad, the 62-year-old coach assured that "the team is at full strength" before adding: "... Issa Kaboré is suspended, and he is the only absentee." The right-back, who plays for Manchester City, is a key figure in Brama Traoré's tactical plans. Kaboré is one of three Burkina Faso players (alongside Rashid Aindé and Issoufou Dayo) who received a yellow card in the previous match against Sierra Leone (1-0).

A match with nothing at stake for Ethiopia

Ethiopia sit fifth in Group A with 9 points and are out of the running for the top two spots. At the press conference, defender James Jang Ramkel, who scored the lone winner in the previous game against Guinea-Bissau, spoke with notable humility.

Burkina Faso is a great team with top players. We know we are already out of contention. We play so that more than 120 million Ethiopians can be proud of us.

The Burkina Faso vs Ethiopia match is scheduled to kick off on October 12 at 19:00 GMT at the 4 August Stadium in Ouagadougou.
