Anthony Gordon is apparently a target for Chelsea as the Blues look to finally try and sign some quality wingers.

Chelsea’s record in buying wingers in the last few years has been dreadful. The Blues got rid of Noni Madueke and Jadon Sancho last summer and added Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens. The new pair have been even worse than the last pair, and now we’re being linked with another wide option.

Anthony Gordon is a player we were linked to when he was at Everton, and now his name is coming up again, with TeamTalk today claiming he’s on our summer shortlist. He’s got 17 goals and 5 assists this season, and looked great in his Champions League games.

Chelsea an unlikely destination for want-away Gordon

We’re not sure we buy this. The reason Gordon is being linked away from Newcastle is because they haven’t made it into the Champions League. Why would he come to Chelsea, in that case? We’re not even going to be in the Conference League, on our current trajectory.

We would also need to sell some of our current options to afford him – and we can’t see anyone jumping at the chance to pick up Garnacho or Gittens right now.
