There is simply no time for FC Barcelona to stop and take a breather just yet. It has already been a slow summer transfer window, and the club cannot afford to slack off now. Fortunately, most of the important operations are going as well as they could for Barcelona.
Following the arrival of English forward Marcus Rashford, the club has finally managed to give Hansi Flick a new left-winger. However, there are other matters to assess as well now that go beyond just acquisitions or departures this summer.
The topic of contracts is a major one at Barcelona right now, and several important players have already extended their deals with the Catalan giants. However, certain deals are still pending and Barça would like to resolve them as soon as possible.

Currently, the deal that seems to be in the most advanced position is that of Jules Kounde. However, with the contract extension of the Frenchman already being at an advanced stage, Barcelona have turned their attention towards another player as well.
According to AS, 28-year-old Frenkie de Jong is next in line after Kounde to get his contract renewed. The Dutchman, who also happens to be a Barcelona captain, remains an integral part of the squad and guaranteeing his continuity is a massive objective for La Blaugrana.
In fact, both the Barcelona board and the coaching staff are in agreement over his renewal. They both see the benefits to it, and with the player’s agent-related issues now out of the way as well, things should progress smoother than how they were before.
As for the specifications of the deal in question, Barcelona would look to extend De Jong’s contract by three more years. With the current deal set to expire in 2026, the new agreement would potentially see the Dutch midfielder stay at Barça until 2029.
Fortunately, the Catalan club has already progressed well when it comes to player renewals. The contract of Wojciech Szczesny was renewed for two additional years, and even Lamine Yamal extended his contract with the club until 2031.
