With the 2024-25 season practically over, FC Barcelona can now focus most of their energies on preparing for the next season. For this purpose, the Blaugranes are already planning their moves for the upcoming summer transfer window.
Although there was already a surplus of centre-backs in the Catalan team this season, they have still been linked strongly with a new central defender, i.e., Jonathan Tah. The German is going to leave Bayer Leverkusen at the end of this season, and Hansi Flick particularly likes him.
Barcelona were already interested in him last year, and have also been negotiating with him in the last few months to ensure his incorporation for free. However, the move could not be finalised yet because of their financial fair play problems. As a result, the defender has also been negotiating with Bayern Munich.
In such a context, SPORT reports that Tah has not yet responded affirmatively to the offer made by the Bavarians as Flick is still not giving up on him.
The German coach believes the Leverkusen defender would be a perfect fit into his team, with his tactical fit and discipline. Flick understands that his team has conceded a lot of goals this season, and wants some quality additions to improve the defence of his team.

Barcelona are currently looking to a right-back with the highest priority, but the German coach also wants Jonathan Tah if possible, for which the Blaugrana side will have to sell at least one of their current defenders.
In this scenario, the Catalans have Tah’s agent, Pini Zahavi, for patience. However, the player himself is keen to ascertain his future, and Bayern’s proposal is also more attractive economically. However, the centre-back has publicly aired his desire to play in another league than Bundesliga and to try the Premier League, even though his first priority remains Barcelona.
