SV Sandhausen and Eintracht Frankfurt shared six goals as they signed off for the summer break, with Ansgar Knauff netting a brace.

After the footballing celebration of 125 years of SG Rot-Weiss Frankfurt at the Stadion am Brentanobad on Tuesday, Eintracht Frankfurt were party guests again less than 24 hours later. This time the Eagles visited fourth-tier side SV Sandhausen, who are celebrating their 110th anniversary.

Eintracht CEO Axel Hellmann sent his greetings via a video message: “Dear friends, fans, supporters, partners. All the best on your 110-year anniversary. We are here today to do our bit in making it a good anniversary. With this mind, all the best and have fun!”

The 3,202 spectators, including 326 from Frankfurt, had fun after six minutes, when David Mamutovic made it 1-0 to Sandhausen. Jeremiaha Maluze equalised from Marvin Dills’ corner in the 17th minute, and 1-1 was how it stayed until half-time.

The second half was less than a minute old when substitute Marvin Schulz punished a mix-up in the Frankfurt defence to make it 2-1.

Knauff at the double, but Ramsak has last word

Ansgar Knauff turned the match around with a quickfire brace in the 78th and 79th minute, but the lead didn’t last long as Robert Ramsak restored parity six minutes from time.

With that, the Eagles finally go into the summer break.
