In today's friendly match, which concludes our training camp, we defeated Kharkiv FC (formerly Metalist 1925) 4-0. Our Red Bulls' goals were scored by Eddy Baidoo, Nikolas Veratschnig, Gaoussou Diakite and Dominik Schmid.

In the early stages, Kharkiv applied pressure and challenged our Red Bulls, but Krätzig & Co found their footing as the game progressed, playing their way out of the Ukrainian press and becoming increasingly dangerous. Eddy Baidoo missed a golden opportunity in the 26th minute, but made no mistake shortly afterward: with a well-placed shot, he scored to make it 1-0 (29'). At the back, Christian Zawieschitzky made a fine save from a header, before we continued to increase the tempo and extend our lead. After a well-executed attack, Nikolas Veratschnig made it 2-0 at the break (39').
As in the first two friendlies, a completely new XI took to the field in the second half, and immediately had an impact: Gaoussou Diakite quickly made it 3-0 with an early goal (51') and shortly afterward had another excellent opportunity to score his second (60'). Kharkiv's Nikola Sarcevic made a crucial save to prevent a goal (61'), before Leandro Morgalla cleared the ball off the line to preserve the clean sheet (74'). At the other end, Dominik Schmid sealed the win with a long-range strike to make it 4-0 (86').

Zawieschitzky (46. Sarcevic); Veratschnig (46. Lainer), Boma (46. Morgalla), Chase (46. Zabransky), Krätzig (46. Schmid); Barry (46. Diabate), Mazurek (46. Kawamura); Baidoo (46. Aguilar; 72. Bischoff), Kitano (46. Diakite), Redzic (46. Camara; 72. Matijasevic); Vertessen (46. Daghim)
You could see in one or two situations today that the lads still had heavy legs. There were aspects that were good, and others that we need to work on. We won't overestimate this game, but overall, things are moving in the right direction. We've now had three friendlies, conceding only one goal, and we've also scored goals. So, all in all, I'm feeling positive – but with the expectation that we'll continue to improve in all phases of the game. That will happen in due course.

We kept a clean sheet and scored four goals against opponents who started very well. We showed a good response though and took our chances. We worked hard and intensively in the training camp. Now we have to keep at it and bring consistency to our approach. Now I'm looking forward to two days off, and then it's back to work next week with three friendly matches.
