Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to shake off their European setback when they host Bournemouth in North London on Sunday afternoon.

Ange Postecoglou’s side fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat in their Europa League last 16 first-leg contest against AZ Alkmaar.

There’s still plenty to play for in that tie, and Tottenham will be hoping to return to winning ways against Bournemouth ahead of next week’s decider in North London.

How Tottenham could line up

Tottenham will be without Dejan Kulusevski, Radu Dragusin, and Richarlison, which is perhaps the fewest injury worries they’ve had all season.

Guglielmo Vicario played a key role in limiting AZ to a single goal and giving Spurs a fighting chance ahead of next week’s tie decider.

Postecoglou will need him to put up another huge performance against Bournemouth on Sunday.

Djed Spence put in a decent shift against AZ in midweek but will likely be the one to drop out for Pedro Porro, who is set to line up alongside Archie Gray, Kevin Danso, and Destiny Udogie in defence.

Postecoglou will likely make a huge call in midfield, with Lucas Bergvall dropping out of the starting XI in favour of Pape Matar Sarr.

The £8.5 million midfielder was the difference between Spurs and AZ in midweek after diverting ex-Tottenham ace Troy Parrott’s headed effort into his own net.

Losing his spot in the XI is a steep price, but Sarr will be keen to impress the manager, lining up alongside Rodrigo Bentancur and James Maddison in the middle of the park.

Tottenham have sorely missed Dominic Solanke this season.

He marked his return from a lengthy lay-off with an 18-minute cameo in midweek, but suffered another knock in stoppage time after a heavy collision with AZ goalkeeper Rome Jayden Owusu-Oduro.

Postecoglou has confirmed the setback is nothing serious and is keeping his fingers crossed that Solanke will be fine to face his former club.

Even if he’s available, Solanke will likely start on the bench against Bournemouth, with Son Heung-min leading the attack alongside Wilson Odobert and Brennan Johnson.
