These players could all depart Derby County before the market shuts on 1 September

Derby County will be aiming to compete for promotion to the Premier League in 2027.

The Rams narrowly missed out on a place in the play-offs last season, coming eighth in the table, and another top eight finish in the next 12 months will put them in the competition.

The play-offs are expanding from 2026/27 to include two more teams, bolstering the club’s hopes of fighting for a return to the top flight.

John Eustace will be keen to bolster his squad between now and the 1 September deadline in the transfer market.

Bobby Clark, Charlie Taylor and Filip Bilbija have joined, but it’s been claimed that Ryan Nyambe could be heading for the exit door.

Here we look at four players from Derby that could follow the defender in leaving Pride Park before the market closes…

Lars-Jørgen Salvesen

Lars-Jørgen Salvesen spent much of 2025/26 either on the sidelines or on the bench, starting on just three occasions despite making 31 appearances in the Championship.

The forward fell down the pecking order, even with injuries to the likes of Carlton Morris and Patrick Agyemang during the campaign.

He contributed three goals and two assists for the Rams in a difficult campaign for him, and perhaps now is the time for him to move on.

While Agyemang is going to be absent for the first half of the new season, it’s unlikely Salvesen will be anything more than a rotation option, so if an offer does arrive then Derby should be inclined to accept it.

Jacob Widell Zetterstrom

In an ideal world, Derby would be able to hold onto Jacob Widell Zetterstrom because he is a key figure in Eustace’s team.

However, the Swedish goalkeeper is attracting interest from a number of clubs following his impressive performances in both the Championship and at the World Cup.

The shot-stopper is also entering the final year of his contract, meaning the Rams are at risk of losing him for nothing in 2027 if they do not cash in on him this summer.

Leeds United and Eintracht Frankfurt have both been linked with the 28-year-old, as well as French giants Lyon, so an exit could be on the cards before 1 September.

It has been reported that Kenzo Goudmijn has been put up for sale by Derby following his return from a loan spell with Dutch side Go Ahead Eagles last season.

He joined the Eredivisie team last summer, and featured 16 times in the league.

However, it’s understood that he is surplus to requirements at Pride Park, and that the club are open to offers for him.

Corey Blackett-Taylor

Corey Blackett-Taylor is another Derby player that went on loan last season, with the winger going to Bolton Wanderers, helping them gain promotion to the Championship.

But it’s been claimed that the Rams are open to a permanent sale this summer following his return from the Whites.

The 28-year-old has struggled for consistent game time with the Rams since joining from Charlton Athletic, and has fallen even further down the pecking order under Eustace.
