Rumors have been circulating for quite some time that Thomas Müller, Mats Hummels, and Yann Sommer could become owners of the Portuguese club Estrela Amadora. Now there has been some movement on this front.

As reported by A Bola, among others, negotiations between Müller’s group and the club are said to have been concluded, and a signing is imminent.

BILD also reports that the negotiations have been successfully concluded.

The deal involves 90 percent of the club’s shares, which are being sold for around 40 million euros. Müller and his partners had already laid out a clear plan some time ago detailing exactly how they intend to manage the club and make it successful.

Clear Strategy for Portuguese Club

The new owners plan to bring a great deal of soccer expertise to the club and to train and develop young players. The goal is to sign exciting young talents who will then gain playing experience at the highest level in the Portuguese league, where a strong emphasis is placed on technical skill.

The sale of these talents is then expected to generate revenue that can be reinvested. Johannes Mösmang will usher in the new era. He is a 35-year-old German manager with more than a decade of experience at FC Bayern Munich, so he is already familiar with his partners.

Exactly what roles Müller, Sommer, and Hummels will take on—and whether they will primarily operate behind the scenes—is not yet known. Once the takeover is officially confirmed, there should be much greater clarity on this matter.

The takeover process has certainly taken a long time; initial contacts were made several months ago. Now everything has gone according to the trio’s satisfaction. Müller is currently still active as a professional player, competing in the MLS for the Vancouver Whitecaps. Hummels recently served as an analyst during the World Cup. And former Bayern goalkeeper Sommer has recently been playing for Club Brugge in Belgium.
