The 49ers board has promised Rangers boss Danny Rohl substantial backing regardless of this season’s final league position, with the American ownership group keen to see progress, as they target a blend of homegrown talent, smart value signings and squad depth.
As the Scottish Premiership season draws to a close, Rangers are gearing up for one of the most significant transfer windows in recent years.
Under manager Rohl, the Ibrox club is prioritising squad rebuilding to mount a sustained title challenge next term, with key departures looming and several exciting targets identified.
The most notable outgoing is club captain James Tavernier. The 34-year-old right-back has confirmed he will leave when his contract expires at the end of May after more than a decade of dedicated service.
A Rangers legend who helped guide the club back to prominence, Tavernier departs as a free agent with interest from Saudi clubs, AEK Athens and several English sides. His exit marks the end of an era and creates an immediate vacancy at right-back.
Further defensive reshaping is likely. Young centre-back Leon King is attracting significant attention from English Championship clubs, including Portsmouth, Wolves, Coventry, Burnley, Middlesbrough and West Brom.
A move south seems probable, while other fringe players and out-of-contract figures could also depart, freeing up wages and funds for new arrivals.
Niko Raskin has been one of Rangers best players over the last two seasons and he has serious interest still, with Tottenham keen on a deal in the winter window. Gers could demand £20million plus for the Belgian international, who has made it clear he is keen to play in the English Premier League.
In attack, Rohl is keen to add firepower.
Swiss striker Lorent Tolaj of Plymouth Argyle has been strongly linked and sources confirmed he is on Gers radar after boasting an impressive goal tally this season.
Rangers have also been alerted to Bobby Clark at Red Bull Salzburg, with a cut-price deal potentially available, Clark would be keen on the move and there are connections between the two clubs via Intermediaries. This also throws the future of Bojan Miovski into question.
Tottenham youngster Mikey Moore, currently on loan at Ibrox and a firm fans favourite, remains a priority for a renewed loan, but that will depend on Spurs fate in the Premier League.
Moore is keen to stay but also loves Tottenham. However he has made it clear, he does not want to be a bench warmer next season, that will be in Gers favour IF Spurs avoid relegation.
Midfield reinforcements are high on the agenda too.
Targets include Silas Andersen of Hacken, Huddersfield’s versatile Cameron Ashia and Kilmarnock’s highly rated David Watson (who is out of contract this summer).
Andersen is a long-term target for Rangers and they wanted him in January but no movement transpired. Sources say he would be open to a move to the Glasgow giants.
These additions would inject youth and dynamism into a squad that showed promise following January arrivals such as Ryan Naderi, Andreas Skov Olsen, Tochi Chukwuani and Tuur Rommens.
Although the likelihood of Gers activating on loan Skov Olsens £8.6 million options is low, he has failed to impress at Ibrox and was hooked during Gers loss to Hearts at the weekend.
