Cole Palmer is said to be becoming ‘increasingly disillusioned’ with his situation at Chelsea, prompting expectations he could be on the move in the summer.

The world-class midfielder, according to Samuel Luckhurst, is said to be ‘hankering’ for a return to Manchester.

Why Palmer is mulling over his Stamford Bridge future

Palmer, a ‘boyhood United fan’, has seen his career flourish since swapping Manchester City for Chelsea in 2023, but now faces an uncertain future as the London outfit navigates yet another transition period under new head coach Liam Rosenior.

Having won only once in their last five Premier League outings, the Blues are seriously at risk of missing out on Champions League football.

They will enter matchweek 32 in sixth place, six points adrift of fourth-placed Aston Villa and a point behind Liverpool in fifth.

Palmer already has a UCL winners’ medal on his CV, thanks to the four appearances he made in the campaign City claimed their maiden European Cup in 2022/2023.

However, after already spending two of his three seasons with Chelsea not being able to participate in the competition due to their failure to qualify, he won’t be fond of the idea of having to endure another in 2026/2027.

United, on the other hand, sit third-placed and are one of the major favourites to make a return to the biggest European stage next term.

While they aren’t exactly striving to sign an attacking midfielder like Palmer, they certainly wouldn’t turn down a player of his calibre if it looked as though he was open to an Old Trafford move.

How Palmer has fared for Chelsea in his three seasons at the club

The 23-year-old has notched a remarkable 53 goals and 32 assists in the 122 appearances he’s made across all competitions since joining the London outfit.

Such a scintillating record has left Chelsea valuing their talisman in the region of £150 million, Luckhurst adds.
