Sunderland supporters packed the Stadium of Light for another major Premier League occasion as Manchester United came to Wearside.

Régis Le Bris’ side sought a response to recent frustrations and delivered a strong display against one of the division’s leading teams, Sunderland Echo notes.

The Black Cats fashioned the clearer openings and, urged on by a loud home crowd, pressed from the outset to push United back.

There was a warm welcome for former loanee Amad Diallo, with applause from home fans and a banner raised in the Roker End.

A photographer captured the colour, noise and emotion in the stands as supporters again played their part at the Stadium of Light.
