The Gambian winger has 10 goal contributions in 22 Allsvensken outings this year and nine goals in all competitions, and has been on the radar of English clubs throughout the summer, including Wolverhampton Wanderers, Brighton and Hove Albion, and Portsmouth.

Manneh missed out on a late move to Greek giants Olympiacos in the summer, with claims that he failed a medical in Greece denied by current club Mjällby, who instead cited issues with personal terms as the reason the deal fell through.

However, it seems that the 20-year-old will get his move away from the Swedish top flight, according to reports from Alan Nixon via his Patreon page on Sunday morning, as the player's agent has reportedly said his client has 'signed' for a Championship club.

Pompey were linked with Manneh in the summer, and Nixon has suggested that John Mousinho's side may be the mystery bidders, who could be landing the Gambian in January.

Despite the transfer window now being shut, work is always continuing in the background ahead of it's reopening in January, as players look to secure moves midway through the season.

This seems to be the case for Mjällby star Manneh, who didn't get his move away from the Swedish side in the summer, having seen a deal to join Greek side Olympiacos late in the window collapse.

Despite the late setback, the Gambian prodigy could be on the move in January, as Nixon revealed on Sunday morning that the player's agent has said his client has already 'signed' for a Championship club ahead of the winter transfer window.

Nixon has suggested that Portsmouth could well be the mystery Championship outfit that are reportedly set to land Manneh's signature, but the details regarding any potential transfer are still somewhat cloudy.

Mystery surrounding potential Manneh, Championship transfer due to contract situation

Despite Nixon's latest revelation regarding the future of the Gambian, there seems to be a lot of grey areas around a potential move to the EFL, which the journalist also stated in his report from Sunday morning.

Firstly, Manneh's adviser, David Moss, has suggested that a pre-contract agreement for the attacker to head to the English second-tier has already been sorted, but details of this aren't checking out.

As stated by Nixon, the winger's contract at Mjallby runs through until the summer of 2027, meaning that a pre-contract agreement can't be signed, due to the fact that the 20-year-old isn't in the final six months of his contract in January.

To thicken the plot, it's also been reported that the Swedish side are unaware of any agreement for a fee between any clubs and the player, which doesn't bode well for the chances of a transfer actually happening.

We also don't know the identity of this mystery Championship bidder, as connections to Portsmouth have only been made due to previous links. With that in mind, it will be interesting to see if anything comes of this news in the winter.
