It was a busy week of international duty for Arsenal players around the globe – with 10 of them involved for their national sides.
William Saliba played 90 minutes for France as they beat Azerbaijan 3-0 in a World Cup qualification game. France have now won three from three and are top of their group.
Gabriel played the full 90 for Brazil as they battered South Korea 5-0 in a friendly. Brazil have already qualified for the World Cup and are now just playing friendly games. It’s no surprise that both of Arsenal’s centre-backs helped their countries to keep clean sheets…
Jurrien Timber played the full game for the Netherlands as they beat Malta 4-0 in World Cup qualifying. They have won four of their five group games and lead their group, three points ahead of Poland.
Myles Lewis-Skelly played 10 minutes from the bench for England against Wales as they won 3-0 in a friendly. Thomas Tuchel’s side could qualify for the World Cup with a win against Latvia next week if other results go their way. Declan Rice played almost 70 minutes in the game.
Bukayo Saka started and scored England’s third goal. All three goals came within the first 20 minutes.
Christian Norgaard came off the bench for Denmark as they eased to a 6-0 win over Belarus. Denmark are top of their group after three games.
Viktor Gyokeres started and played the full 90 for Sweden against Switzerland. Sweden lost 2-0 in the World Cup qualifying game and have made a worrying start, losing two out of three and drawing the other game. They are bottom of their group.
Leandro Trossard started and played 74 minutes for Belgium as they drew 0-0 with North Macedonia in a World Cup qualification game. Amazingly, North Macedonia lead their group and are one point above Belgium. They have played a game more.
Ethan Nwaneri played the full 90 for England’s Under-21s as they beat Moldova 4-0 in a Euro’s qualification game. England are third in their group but have played at least one less game than every other team.
