The likes of Raphinha, Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski grab the headlines whenever we talk about Barcelona’s brilliant attacking performance this season.

However, as the season has progressed, there have been some unsung heroes who have emerged in recent months. One of them is Ferran Torres.

Ferran Torres: The Silent Killer for Barcelona

Ferran Torres might not be a regular starter under Hansi Flick, but he is making every minute on the pitch count, reports Diario SPORT.

The 24-year-old forward scored again in Barcelona’s 2-0 win over Las Palmas, delivering the goal that finally broke the home side’s resistance.

With that goal, Ferran reached 11 for the season, equaling his total from the entire previous campaign. The difference? He has done it in just 27 matches compared to 42 last season.

That puts him third in Barça’s scoring charts, behind only Lewandowski and Raphinha – elite company for a player who rarely starts.

The numbers get even better when you break them down. Ferran has scored six of his 11 goals coming off the bench, making him one of the most dangerous substitutes in Europe.

In fact, only Angel Correa and Alexander Sorloth have scored more goals as substitutes – and just by one. Even more impressively, his goals are often decisive, with three being the opening strike for Barça in matches.

Perhaps the most striking statistic is his goal-per-minute ratio. Ferran is finding the net every 87 minutes, a rate that puts him among Europe’s best finishers this season.

This is quite significant considering the fact that Ferran Torres was one of the unwanted attackers at Barcelona at the start of the season.

The Spaniard was even linked with a move away from Camp Nou, but the player had no desire to leave and continues to try and earn himself a place in the starting eleven.

Now, with numbers supporting his case, it is perhaps safe to say that Ferran is starting to make an impact at Barça, even as Chelsea weigh up a summer move for the former Man City starlet.
