On Saturday, the San Siro will host one of the most anticipated clashes of Serie A Matchday 13, with AC Milan and Lazio locking horns for the first of their back-to-back meetings.
These two sides have often delivered exciting contests when locking horns. In fact, we would have to go all the way back to February 2011 to witness a goalless draw. So ahead of this weekend’s big showdown, let’s take a closer look at the head-to-head record as well as some of the recent meetings between the two clubs.
Milan have the historical upper hand in this fixture. The two clubs crossed paths on 164 previous occasions in Serie A, with the Rossoneri emerging victorious 72 times. On the other hand, Lazio only prevailed in 32 meetings, while 60 matches ended in draws. Milan have also outscored the capital side 259-187.
Biancocelesti legend Silvio Piola is the all-time top goal-scorer of this fixture with 15 goals to his name, while four former Milan bombers share the second place with four apiece. These are Aldo Boffi, Gunnar Nordhal, Andriy Shevchenko, and Giovanni Moretti.
Despite winning the last time around, Lazio have an abysmal record against Milan at San Siro, winning only 11 out of 82 Serie A contests. The home side emerged victorious on 48 occasions, while 23 other meetings witnessed a draw.
The last time the Diavolo beat Lazio was on March 1, 2024, when Maurizio Sarri’s first stint at Formello was about to reach its expiry date. The Biancocelesti weren’t happy with the officiating, and Luca Pellegrini’s naive second yellow left them with a man down for the bulk of the second half.
Noah Okafor pounced on the rebound to score a late winner, while red cards for Adam Marusic and Matteo Guendouzi left the home with just eight men on the pitch in the final seconds of the chaotic contest.
The last time these two sides met, it was Lazio who had the last laugh. The contest took place at San Siro on March 2, 2025. Mattia Zaccagni gave the visitors the lead before the half-hour mark, but Samuel Chukwueze somehow restored parity in the 84th minute, even though Milan were reduced to 10 men following Strahinja Pavlovic’s dismissal.

Nevertheless, Marco Baroni’s men were determined to win, and they eventually won a spot-kick that was converted by the ice-cold Pedro in the 98th minute.
The two sides shared the spoils on August 31, 2024, on the back of an entertaining back-and-forth battle held at the Stadio Olimpico. Pavlovic’s header sent Milan to the interval with a narrow advantage, but Nuno Tavares turned the match upside-down, marking his Lazio debut with two almost identical assists to Taty Castellanos and Boulaye Dia.
In the end, the Rossoneri’s substitutes, Rafael Leao and Tammy Abraham, combined to salvage a point for Paulo Fonseca’s men.
