Abdeslam Ouaddou has guided Orlando Pirates to a historic treble in South Africa, and was named the Premiership’s coach of the season.

According to L'Équipe, the head coach had just returned from a final pre-season camp in Andalusia before attending the awards ceremony. He has been in charge at Orlando Pirates since July 2025.

The treble comprised the league title, the domestic cup and the super cup, all secured within a 12-month spell.

His transition from playing to coaching has not been straightforward, and this campaign brought its own challenges. His earliest steps as a manager came in exile.

It marked an extraordinary first year in South Africa for the former Nancy and Rennes defender.
