Abdoulaye Faye extends Leverkusen deal and joins Celta Vigo on loan | OneFootball

Bayer Leverkusen have extended Abdoulaye Faye’s contract to 2031 and loaned the 21-year-old Senegalese centre-back to Celta Vigo for the 2026/27 season. The deal contains no purchase option.

Kicker reports that Celta will pay Leverkusen a loan fee of approximately €300,000.

Faye joined Leverkusen from BK Häcken last summer for between €2.7m and €3m. The left-footed defender was among a cohort of prospects signed with development in mind.

He spent last season at Lorient in France’s top flight, making 17 league appearances and starting regularly when available. Two extended injury absences curtailed his minutes, and he received eight yellow cards.

Celta finished sixth last season and return to the Europa League, offering Faye top-flight and continental minutes. He is expected to compete with former Spanish international Marcos Alonso for the left centre-back role. Alonso made 32 league appearances last season and is an established figure in Celta’s defence.
