Abdul Fatawu has admitted Leicester City were not good enough as he prepares for what is likely to be his final game. The player said in an Instagram post that the campaign had been disappointing.
He is the second City player to speak on relegation via social media after goalkeeper Asmir Begovic. Fatafu said he believes Leicester will return stronger, though he is very unlikely to be part of any revival.
Regarded as the club’s most valuable asset, he will need to be sold this summer to help the club manage the sharp drop in income that comes with League One.
Fatafu attracted Premier League interest last summer, most notably from Sunderland. That interest is expected to remain, although City may not receive the £35m fee that was floated a year ago.
He leads City for goal involvements this season, scoring nine and setting up seven. Since Gary Rowett took charge he has only one in 12 matches, his finish in the win over Bristol City, after 15 in 32 beforehand.
