Abel absent as Palmeiras train twice, Vitor Roque steps up on-pitch work | OneFootball

Palmeiras held double training on Friday, the third day of their inter-season work. According to Globo.com, Abel Ferreira has not yet returned, so sessions were led by his coaching staff.

Vitor Roque worked on the pitch again under the Health and Performance unit's close watch. The forward continues to make progress in his recovery from ankle surgery.

João Martins, Castanheira, Carlos Martinho and Andrey Lopes oversaw technical exercises on finishing, duels, support play and marking.

Marcelo Lomba resumed training after being allowed time to resolve personal matters. Marlon Freitas is in a similar situation and has not yet returned.

The morning session then grew in scale, with two teams facing off using small goals at each end. Academy products from the support group also took part.

Players lunched at the training centre and rested before the afternoon session. It began with physical work, then squads were split into three teams of eight for defensive balance and build-up drills.

In this second block, the goalkeepers had additional work. After joining the group, they focused on playing out from the back.

Palmeiras are not back in action until 23 July, away to Coritiba in the 19th round of the Brasileiro. They lead the competition on 41 points.
