Abel Ferreira back at Palmeiras as Piquerez begins treatment after ankle injury | OneFootball

Palmeiras returned to work on Sunday as Abel Ferreira rejoined after a family visit to Portugal, and Piquerez began treatment for a right ankle sprain at the Academia de Futebol.

According to Globo.com, the left-back was hurt early in Uruguay’s friendly against England and left the pitch on a stretcher. He flew back to Brazil on Saturday, was assessed by the club’s health and performance unit on Sunday, started treatment and will undergo further tests.

Still recovering, Vitor Roque continued his individual programme inside the club’s centre of excellence, rather than training on the pitch.

His work is aimed at returning to full fitness after this international window, following ankle pain from trauma in the Paulista semi-final and fatigue built up in the State final.

Abel oversaw a technical and tactical session, with unit drills for attack and defence. Palmeiras now prepare to face Grêmio at 21:30 on Thursday at Arena Crefisa Barueri in the 9th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro, leading the table on 19 points, three clear of São Paulo and Fluminense.
