Abner Vinícius on Benfica radar, Lyon ‘not closing door’ to summer transfer | OneFootball

According to Sport, Benfica are monitoring Lyon left-back Abner Vinícius as they seek to strengthen the left side, and the French club are not closing the door to a summer transfer.

The 26-year-old had a positive campaign in France, making 36 appearances with five goals and three assists. He also covered on the right flank during injury issues in Lyon’s squad.

Abner arrived from Betis in 2024 in a deal worth about €eight million. He is now valued at around €10 million and is contracted to Lyon until 2029, which could make negotiations demanding financially.

The Brazil international was not selected by Carlo Ancelotti for the 2026 World Cup but continues to attract European interest.

Benfica previously tracked him in 2023 while he was at Athletico Paranaense, before his moves to Spain and then France.

With attack-minded qualities appreciated at Benfica, Abner Vinícius is again seen as a credible option to bolster Marco Silva’s squad next season.
