AC Milan lost the Coppa Italia final on Wednesday night, and it has been revealed that this may have been better for the long-run.
Losing a final is never nice, especially when the hopes of a season rest upon it. However, Milan may have actually saved themselves in the process of being defeated by Bologna, it seems. Considering their season, it is certainly a questionable sentiment.
Before the game, there were suggestions that the club could keep things the same with a victory, as they would still qualify for Europe – which many fans had actually feared. Today, those fears have been confirmed and Francesco Nasato relays words from Peppe Di Stefano on X.
“If AC Milan had won the Coppa Italia there was a real possibility that things would have stayed the same. That’s the absurdity of this story, even if they had won the second competition of the season there are still some macro negative results this season.”
Considering the severeness of this season, the fact that the management would actually consider making no changes despite having a plethora of reasons to do so, is simply baffling. At least there can now be anticipation for much needed changes ahead of next year.
