Achraf Hakimi and Vitinha acted as bodyguards for the penalty spot, diverting attention from Ousmane Dembélé before his kick in the Champions League final against Arsenal.

A supporter’s video from a side stand at the Puskas Arena in Budapest shows Vitinha taking the ball first, then standing over the spot with Hakimi. According to L'Équipe, they stayed there for nearly two minutes to shield the turf and give the impression they might take it.

As in the semi-final first leg against Bayern Munich, Dembélé waited on the edge of the box, head down and hands on hips. Broadcast cameras caught him joking with Martin Ödegaard. Vitinha eventually handed him the ball once the area had cleared.

Dembélé converted in the 65th minute, the penalty having been won by Khvitcha Kvaratskhelia after a foul by Cristhian Mosquera.

PSG had been behind for nearly an hour and under pressure before that equaliser. The match finished 1-1 after extra time, and PSG won the shootout 4-3.
