Adam Campbell is weighing up his next move after his Hartlepool United contract expired last month. According to Sunderland Echo, the 31-year-old has held talks with National League and National League North clubs.
The former Newcastle United and Gateshead forward joined Pools in summer 2024 after helping Crawley Town win promotion to League One weeks earlier. He set up Jack Hunter on debut in a 1-0 victory over Yeovil.
His first season at the Prestige Group Stadium brought two goals and one further assist. Last season he produced nine goal involvements in 32 appearances.
Campbell’s senior career was kickstarted in 2012 when he became the youngest Newcastle player to feature in European competition, coming on in a Europa League tie at Greek side Atromitos.
Campbell said: “It’s been quite a slow summer. Usually you see a lot of movement but it doesn’t seem that way. It has picked up in the last week to ten days and I’ve had a couple of meetings with managers and had a couple of chats on the phone with others. I am positive about what the future holds and it will be National League or National League North - but that could depend on certain other things.”
