If Adama Sidibeh makes a Championship move this summer, these two frontmen should be on Jimmy McNulty's radar to replace him

Stockport County's electric frontman Adama Sidibeh is the subject of Championship interest, as one of the more fascinating footballing stories in the EFL could be set to write another chapter.

Three years ago, the 28-year-old was preparing for a Northern Premier League campaign with Warrington Rylands. Now, he's putting Stockport ahead against Bristol City in a friendly over in Spain.

Sidibeh netted 10 times in 25 games at the Edgeley Park-based side following his January move from Scottish outfit St Johnstone, including a couple at Wembley in the Vertu Trophy final against Luton Town and the play-off final against Bolton Wanderers.

There's plenty of excitement about what the Gambian international can do in his first full EFL campaign, but it's not a certainty that will be happening in his current surroundings.

According to Alan Nixon, Blackburn Rovers, Bristol City and Middlesbrough are all interested in testing Sidibeh at Championship level, while Rangers have been credited with interest in bringing him back to the SPL.

New Stockport boss Jimmy McNulty will definitely not want to lose the 28-year-old this summer, but if his stay at Edgeley Park does come to an end, the Hatters should turn to these two frontmen to replace him.

There's surely little hope at St James Park that Jayden Wareham will be sticking around for a League Two campaign, after a breakout year at Exeter City despite the Grecians' relegation.

The 23-year-old netted 22 times in all competitions in his debut campaign for the Devon-based side, 19 of which came in the third tier — placing him third in the Golden Boot race.

Not only was Wareham dangerous in front of goal, but his defensive efforts were also amongst the best compared to his fellow strikers, ranking in the top 4% for duels won both on the ground and in the air, alongside being in the top 7% for defensive contributions, per Fotmob.

One of the few strikers who was better than him in that regard was Kyle Wootton, who you'd imagine would be starting alongside Wareham if Stockport made the signing, with Jimmy McNulty operating with a 3-5-2 system for the majority of last season at Rochdale.

Having two strikers who win the majority of their duels, and who both finished in the top three of the goalscoring ranks in League One last season, would be an incredibly exciting strike partnership heading into the new campaign.

In recent seasons, Stockport have gotten a lot of joy from having Wootton as a more traditional target man paired with an explosive runner alongside him, whether that be Tanto Olaofe, Louie Barry or, now, Sidibeh.

If the 28-year-old was to move on this summer, replacing him with Tyrese Shade, who was one of the best strikers in the league when it came to completing dribbles and progressing the ball forward last season at Burton Albion, could be a smart choice.

28 of his progressive carries ended in shooting opportunities, per Opta, and another 15 ended in chances for the Brewers. According to Fotmob, he ranked in the top 3% of third-tier strikers for successful dribbles, completing them at a 53% rate, too.

Combining that with the fact Shade did that alongside Jake Beesley, who was also one of the best hold-up men in the third tier last season, a partnership between him and Wootton could be dangerous at Edgeley Park.

Burton definitely won't want to lose him, as a few key players, including Beesley, have left the Pirelli Stadium already this summer, but at Stockport, he'd have a brilliant opportunity to add to the 14 goals he scored in all competitions last season.
