Karim Adeyemi has reportedly decided to remain at Borussia Dortmund for the remainder of the 2024-25 season according to updates on Tuesday evening, which delivers a blow to Napoli in their hunt for a Khvicha Kvaratskhelia replacement.
The Partenopei had been in talks to sign Adeyemi in the January transfer window for a fee in the region of €40m, but the players was unsure about leaving mid-way through the season, and has now decided to stay put at the Signal Iduna Park according to reports from Matteo Moretto and Fabrizio Romano.
There had also been interest from a handful of Premier League clubs, but Adeyemi will stay put in Dortmund until the summer at the least.
Adeyemi’s decision leaves Napoli with one real transfer target remaining in the January transfer window: Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho.

Adeyemi and Garnacho are the two players Napoli have been in talks for as potential replacements for Kvaratskhelia, who joined PSG for a fee in excess of €70m earlier in the window.
There is still no agreement between the Partenopei and United for the Argentina international, but talks are ongoing.
Napoli’s need for a new attacker has now become more urgent, with less than a week of the window remaining and their back-up option now out of the picture.
