Adil Aouchiche is thriving at Schalke after a deadline-day switch from Sunderland, averaging an assist every other game in Bundesliga 2. His seamless adaptation has not surprised the club.

Sport BILD reports that Schalke’s in-house analytics flagged the 23-year-old as an almost perfect fit for their high-intensity style. Under CEO Matthias Tillmann, a Silicon Valley-inspired system, including the “StatsLibuda” model scanning more than 230,000 players, helps guide major sporting decisions.

Aouchiche is said to have scored 99 percent, among Schalke’s highest results, with the model valuing relentless ball hunting and constant movement. He has been described in Germany as a gamechanger.

“When the call came, I was really pleased and excited about the chance to join Schalke. We’ve got big plans, and I want to play my part in making sure we have a successful second half of the season. I want to show that in every training session,” he told the club’s official website.

Director of professional football Youri Mulder said Aouchiche suits Schalke’s philosophy, citing his intensity, game intelligence, physicality, high work rate, sharp acceleration, availability on the ball and appetite for risky passes.
