Adson and Johan Rojas shone as Vasco enjoyed a comfortable win over Olimpia, Puma Rodríguez opening the scoring. According to Globo.com, this was among the side's best performances of the year.
Rojas set the tempo with short dribbles and smart passing, starting the move for Puma's opener with a precise ball, finished first time with his left after Adson's assist.
Ramon Rique, a late starter after Tchê Tchê felt unwell in the warm-up, won possession to begin the second goal. Spinelli's effort struck the post and Nuno Moreira pounced from close range.
Rojas then created the third, supplying Adson to score and underline his improvement. Nuno operated from the left but drifted inside to offer passing lanes. Hinestroza broke clear on a counter but stumbled before he could finish.
At the back, Lucas Freitas was steady and a handball penalty given against him was overturned on VAR review by referee Jesús Valenzuela. Saldivia struggled with aerial cover and was targeted, while Léo Jardim's short passing and decisions on crosses caused jitters.
Piton recovered well to snuff out breaks, Paulo Henrique stayed compact, and Puma combined neatly with Adson on the right. Avellar settled after a risky first pass and delivered a fine cross for Spinelli, who also linked play but missed two big chances.
Renato Gaúcho served a Conmebol suspension and assistant Alexandre Mendes took charge. Vasco created several openings and, on another night, might have won by more.
