Burnley defender Axel Tuanzebe may miss the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Already sidelined last weekend against Brentford (3-1), the 28-year-old defender was also absent against Crystal Palace (0-1) on Wednesday.

Called up by Sébastien Desabre for the AFCON squad, the international with seven caps is still waiting to learn the extent of his injury and how long he’ll be ruled out.

Alongside Axel Tuanzebe, Congolese coach Sébastien Desabre has also called up several other defenders and fullbacks: Rocky Bushiri (Hibernian), Gédéon Kalulu (Aris Limassol), Steve Kapuadi (Legia Warsaw), Joris Kayembe (Racing Genk), Arthur Masuaku (Sunderland), Chancel Mbemba (Lille), and Aaron Wan-Bissaka (West Ham).

In the group stage, DR Congo will compete in Group B alongside Benin, Sudan, and Togo.
