Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou has emerged as one of the key architects of the Atlas Lions' run at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, currently taking place on Moroccan soil.
Thanks to his top-level performances, the national team has strung together four consecutive matches without conceding a single goal—a first in Morocco's history at the CAN finals.
Solid and decisive, Bounou has played a major role in Morocco's qualification for the final, set for this Sunday evening at the Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
During this defensive run, Morocco dominated Zambia (3-0), edged Tanzania (1-0), outclassed Cameroon (2-0), and wrapped up with a goalless draw against Nigeria (0-0).
Walid Regragui's men are on the verge of matching a record held by Cameroon and Ivory Coast. If they manage a clean sheet in Sunday's final against Senegal, the Atlas Lions will record a fifth consecutive match without conceding, according to global statistics provider Opta.
However, the all-time record still belongs to Ivory Coast, known as the Elephants, who managed six straight clean sheets during the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.
It's also worth noting that Morocco remains, so far, the most solid defense at this CAN 2025, having conceded just a single goal since the start of the tournament—a 1-1 draw against Mali in the group stage.
