The 2026 Africa Cup of Nations winner remains unconfirmed, with CAF declining to name a champion between Morocco and Senegal.

L'Équipe reports that hopes the CAF executive committee would offer clarity on Sunday proved misplaced, leaving the identity of the winners still unknown.

In a press conference, CAF president Patrice Motsepe said the matter now rests with the Tribunal arbitral du sport, TAS, and that they will wait for its ruling. He expressed surprise at suggestions he had supported any outcome and said the organisation would not comment. He added that he respects the appeal jury’s decision awarding Morocco a 3-0 walkover, whether or not he agrees, and that he must implement it, stressing his personal view carries no weight.

Motsepe avoided taking sides amid internal tension since the walkover announcement, which Senegal contests. At no stage has CAF officially handed the title to the Lions of the Atlas.

Until a final ruling is delivered, Morocco and Senegal are set to continue claiming the crown themselves.
