AFCON: Regragui makes big announcement about Hakimi!

Walid Regragui, the coach of Morocco, held a press conference last night after the draw against Mali (1-1) on the 2nd day of the 2025 AFCON. He was notably asked about the possible return of Achraf Hakimi, the 27-year-old right-back from Paris Saint-Germain, against Zambia this Monday.

"We have a chance to see Achraf Hakimi either start or come on during the match. He was prepared to play at least 10 minutes, but we preferred not to take any risks. We will let him play to warm up the engine a bit. He will be ready for the knockout matches, that's for sure."

After warming up yesterday without entering the game, Hakimi will likely take this much-anticipated step of returning to competition this Monday. This is excellent news for him and his team. Caution is needed after significant work since early November, but it seems time for him to resume competition. Perhaps not as a starter, but coming on is already very positive.
