Grêmio blocked Amuzu from joining Ghana for Friday's friendly against Mexico, and he said he feels a little sad but will stay focused on the club. According to Globo.com, the match is at 23:00 Brasília time and the club argued he would have missed four games.

He spoke after Thursday's win over Palestino at the Arena in Porto Alegre, playing down the row over his release while admitting he would have liked to be with the national team.

He said he cannot change the situation, so he will keep his focus. He added nobody has told him about a potential World Cup call, and that the friendly would have been a good chance to put himself in contention. He said directors told him it was not possible to go because they needed him, which he respects.

As he left the stadium, Amuzu said there are no talks under way over a new deal, his contract running to the end of this year. The club have already made initial contact with his representatives about a possible extension.

Ghana's World Cup squad is expected to be named by one June. The Mexico friendly does not fall on a FIFA date, so Grêmio were not obliged to release him for Carlos Queiroz's side. Amuzu said he is not thinking about the World Cup for now, with three games ahead, and wants to perform in the remaining matches.
