Uli Hoeneß’s public criticism of Konrad Laimer has recently been the subject of much discussion at FC Bayern. While contract talks between the club and player have recently been on ice, there now seems to be some movement in the poker
In recent weeks, the discussion surrounding Konrad Laimer’s future at FC Bayern has come to a head due to the ongoing talks regarding an extension to his contract, which runs until 2027
The Austrian’s rumored salary demands in particular have recently made headlines, with rumors claiming that Laimer is demanding an annual salary of up to €15 million – a sum that is viewed critically internally at Säbener Straße
Honorary President Uli Hoeneß was particularly outspoken on the subject, stating in an interview with DAZN: „Konny is a player I hold in high regard, but he’s no Maradona.“ Hoeneß later added that Laimer is „no Harry Kane“ and therefore does not belong in the same salary category
Head of Sport Max Eberl also recently confirmed that talks between the two sides have been paused for the time being

However, the tz now reports that the situation appears to have eased again, with the club and player having recently come closer together
Interestingly, according to the report, the extremely high salary demands that have been circulating are not true
Laimer currently earns around nine million euros per season at FC Bayern and his salary could rise to around twelve million euros in the future as part of a possible extension
However, it remains to be seen whether Munich are prepared to agree to this financial framework. Internally, the record champions continue to pursue a comparatively hard line when it comes to contract extensions
As BILD recently reported, Bayern would even be prepared to let Laimer leave on a free transfer in the summer of 2027 if no agreement is reached
The 28-year-old continues to be held in high regard at Säbener Straße, with Vincent Kompany in particular appreciating Laimer’s versatility, mentality and enormous willingness to run. This season, the Austrian has not only impressed in central midfield, but also as a right-back
For this very reason, FC Bayern still appear to be interested in a long-term partnership – but only on commercially viable terms.
