After leaving Bayern: Aseko reports on an „honest conversation“ with Kompany | OneFootball

Noel Aseko has finally closed the chapter on his time with FC Bayern. During his introduction in Frankfurt, the midfielder spoke about a candid conversation with Vincent Kompany—and how open and honest the exchange between the two was.

The 20-year-old will now be chasing goals for Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga. In Munich, however, regular playing time would have been highly unlikely for him. Despite Leon Goretzka’s departure, the German record champions’ midfield remains star-studded—he wouldn’t have been guaranteed playing time.

Before the transfer was finalized, Aseko sought a direct conversation at Säbener Straße. In addition to meeting with the executive board, he also spoke personally with head coach Kompany—and apparently laid all his cards on the table.

Aseko: “Honest conversation” with Kompany

“I had in-depth discussions with the coach and executive board of FC Bayern and also had good talks with Frankfurt,” Aseko reported at his official presentation. He continued: “I had an honest conversation with Bayern’s coach; I was honest with him, and he was honest with me. That’s how the transfer came about.”

This followed a loan stint with second-division club Hannover 96, where Aseko had been playing since February 2025. In a year and a half there, he made 33 second-division appearances, most recently contributing three goals and six assists, and was a regular starter for the fourth-place team. He began his journey to Munich in 2022; the five-time U21 national team player had previously come up through the ranks at Hertha BSC.

SGE Entices with a “Clear Plan”

Aseko signed a long-term contract with Eintracht running through 2031. According to him, the “total package” was the deciding factor. “The club officials have a clear plan for how I can continue to develop at Eintracht. It’s important to me to get plenty of playing time as well. I think I have a promising future ahead of me here,” he emphasized.

SGE sporting director Markus Krösche expressed confidence in the signing: “Noel Aseko has impressively demonstrated in Hannover, in a physically demanding league, that he also has the physical attributes needed to take the next step.” For FC Bayern, this marks the end of a chapter that, despite a detour through Hannover, never led to a permanent spot on the professional roster.
