Julian Nagelsmann’s recent interview about Germany’s World Cup squad has sparked widespread debate. FC Bayern also followed the national coach’s statements closely. Now Bayern coach Vincent Kompany has commented on the much-discussed statements
In an interview with kicker, Nagelsmann emphasized that the Bayern professional has a good chance of making Germany’s World Cup squad despite his currently limited playing time with the record champions
„There will be decisions that probably won’t be met with super great understanding,“ explained the national coach with regard to the composition of his squad
Vincent Kompany initially took the discussion with a wink. When asked about Nagelsmann’s statements about Goretzka , the Bayern coach jokingly said: „In my book, all Bayern players would be in the national teams.“
At the same time, the Belgian made it clear that he does not see the situation as a contradiction. The fact that Goretzka does not currently play a consistently central role at FC Bayern, while he has a good chance of appearing for the DFB team, is not a problem from his point of view. „How Julian communicates is his decision – but my role at Bayern is what we can achieve at the club,“ explained Kompany
The Bayern coach also emphasized that his full attention remains on the day-to-day business at the record champions. The debates surrounding the DFB’s World Cup squad do not play a major role for him at the moment. „I am one hundred percent sure that I trust our boys,“ Kompany stressed
For the Belgian, the focus within the team is paramount and discussions from outside should have as little influence as possible on the work at Säbener Straße

In this context, Kompany also spoke of the so-called „Bayern bubble“, which he deliberately wants to protect. By this he means the environment within the team, in which it is all about performance and results
„What’s important to me is our bubble. It’s not just about communication from fans and the media, but about the overall focus,“ explained the Bayern coach
The coach’s message is clear: the only thing that matters is what happens on the pitch. „We have training today, so they have to show everything. Tomorrow in the game too. Everything else is not so important to me. Everything is solved on the pitch, not off it.“
