Giuseppe Riso addressed some of his high-profile clients who were in the news on deadline day. Sandro Tonali was linked with a late move to Arsenal, which didn’t come to fruition and was eventually rubbished. The representative spoke to Sky.
“Newcastle United didn’t want to lose him in January. We haven’t talked with Arsenal about such a possibility. Now it’s not the right time to speak about Juventus.”
The Bianconeri have frequently been rumored to have Tonali at the top of their preferences should they make a splash to bolster their midfield, but it’ll be a matter for the summer.
Riso also commented on Davide Frattesi, who was attached to Bournemouth.
“Lazio tried too, but Inter didn’t intend to let him go for now.”
The midfielder drew a rare start against Cremonese since Nicolò Barella and Hakan Calhanoglu were missing. The Biancocelesti reportedly offered a €30M package, but the Nerazzurri didn’t have a replacement in hand. They had zeroed in on Curtis Jones, but Liverpool elected to keep him.
The agent suggested Bryan Cristante and Gianluca Mancini would extend their contracts with Roma.
“The club is finalizing the paperwork. Once it’s done, we’ll put pen to paper.”
Riso brokered the transfer of Giovane, who was pursued by multiple sides before landing at Napoli.
“They were the quickest. He has room for improvement and can only grow under Antonio Conte.”
The representative took stock of the football landscape.
“The gap with the Premier League is manifest. It’ll be tough to reduce it if we don’t come up with something. As for Turkey, there’s a lot of passion, and the players are enthusiastic to move there.”
