Agirrezabala, Vesga and Vivián miss Derio friendly as Terzic names first Athletic squad | OneFootball

Edin Terzic has unveiled his first Athletic squad for this evening’s friendly, a 19.30 kick-off in Portugalete against Derio. According to El Correo, there are notable omissions from the squad.

From the initial group of 30 who began pre-season a week ago, with Izeta already sold to Cádiz, five are not included: Julen Agirrezabala, Dani Vivián, Mikel Vesga, Andoni Gorosabel and Nico Serrano.

Terzic cannot call on the injured Eguiluz, Gorosabel and Serrano, with Serrano sidelined by a minor muscle problem in his left rectus femoris. The other absences are linked to potential departures.

Players under scrutiny include Julen Agirrezabala, signed until 2027 with a unilateral club option to 2029, Mikel Vesga, who has one year left, Álvaro Djaló, contracted until 2029, and Unai Vencedor, who does not even appear on the website squad list.

The German coach will have the final say, as he will tell each player whether he counts on them or invites them to leave. The travelling party is: Padilla, Santos, Paredes, Yeray, Berenguer, O.
