Agustín Marchesín to miss Boca’s Libertadores start after grade 3 tear | OneFootball

Agustín Marchesín faces several weeks out and will miss Boca’s Liga Profesional trip to Córdoba to face Talleres, as well as the Copa Libertadores opener against Universidad Católica.

The club said in a statement that he has a grade 3 tear in his right adductor, confirmed after medical tests.

He suffered the injury in the closing minutes against Instituto. Despite on-field treatment and obvious pain, he tried to finish the game, but had to be replaced by youngster Leandro Brey.

Brey is set to guard the net through a pivotal run that includes Talleres, Universidad Católica, Independiente and the Superclásico at the Monumental against River Plate.

Boca’s medical staff will monitor Marchesín day by day, and recovery is expected to take several weeks. There is cautious optimism about 14 April against Barcelona de Ecuador and, five days later, the 19 April Superclásico, although reaching those dates looks unlikely at present. Marchesín has already started physiotherapy to try to cut the timeframe.
